From the Learning Room

I'm sure it's hard to imagine how we school each day and how we get anything accomplished with two busy three year olds bustling around the house. Well, I thought I'd include you on our journey over the next six weeks. This year we are studying for six weeks and taking every seventh week off. Our start date was August 1, so we've already had a full seven weeks of school under our belts. Yesterday, we started our second six week period. The first day back is always a challenge. All our habits are rusty and it takes a few days to get back in the swing of things.

The first part of this academic year, we've been exploring the plant world . Today we learned the parts of a flower. You can see the flower models we made for review. We even put pollen (a.k.a. corn meal) on the stamen. It was messy, so all thought it was fun.

Later in the day we made flower cookies to enjoy and to sneak in a little review.

I'd love to tell you that every day we enjoy such creativity, projects and tasty treats, but alas, as you shall soon find out, today was a rare jewel. We especially enjoy days like today hoping they become more ordinary. Tomorrow should be an interesting day as well. We're off to a field trip at Phipps Conservatory. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow night.
