Isaiah helped me to prepare an Indian meal last week. Here he is cutting up cucumbers for a cucumber raita dish.
We also made a potato and pea curry and served it over rice.
A common dish in India is dahl. It is a lentil dish that you scoop up with chipatis, a type of Indian bread. Our chipatis turned out a little thick and not as soft as ones we've eaten in Indian restaurants. In parts of India, it is customary to use only your fingers when you eat. Indians enjoy feeling the different textures of the foods in their fingers. Also, it is offensive to use your left hand when eating. The kids enjoyed most of the dishes we prepared with dahl being the big hit. We had a fun evening trying to eat as an Indian family might.
