Last Monday, Isaiah celebrated his 11th birthday! (As his mother, I can hardly believe he is already 11...where did the time go!) It is a pleasure having Isaiah as our son. He is witty, has a great sense of humor, an incredible memory, and a tender heart. Isaiah is an avid reader and finds the world to be an interesting place. He loves exploring the outdoors, battling with light sabers, playing ultimate frisbee, and hunting and making traps. I am most proud of his contributions to our family. He is a fabulous big brother to all of his siblings. His gentleness with little ones is a blessing. With God's help, he is becoming a fine young man.
Today, Nov. 29th, Isaiah, Nathaniel, David, and Boppa Chuck took advantage of the first day of the hunting season. At 7:20 a.m., Isaiah got a shot off at a 3 pt. buck. He and his grandfather went to see if he'd hit it and found a bullet in a tree. They also looked for a trail of blood and found none. Then, Isaiah took a turn hunting later in the morning with David and didn't have another opportunity to shoot. At 3:30, the guys reassembled for a last attempt at getting a deer this first day of the season. By 5:30 it was clear that today was not to be the day.

So, the four Baily hunters headed up to the neighbors to swap hunting stories. The neighbors hadn't gotten anything either, though they were waiting to hear from Cory, one of their sons. When Cory got back, he said he'd shot at a buck, and when he went to look for it, he noticed a trail of blood. It didn't lead where his deer had run off to, but he checked it out and found a cold 3 pt. Isaiah was ecstatic! "That's my deer!" he jumped up and down. And after further investigation, sure enough, he slew his first buck. What an awesome day for him! We were so proud of Isaiah and so thankful to God for the wonderful day and the safety and protection he had given. Thanks be to God!
