Plugging Along

Today was a day of pushing forward. Nothing real exciting, but things we had to do. The boys had huge math reviews along with their other work, and Eliza worked hard on her reading and spelling. Joel and Josh made a plethora of messes and toted their cars all over the house.

In Bible, we read in Genesis where Abraham sent Ishmael away. We reviewed all our Greek vocabulary, a total of 7 words. We disected a flower. That was very interesting. We were able to find its reproductive parts and even the seeds in it ovary. Very cool. I think we're down to two or three more weeks of plant study and then we'll jump into either the human body or the animal kingdom.

Friday is also our big music day. Eliza and Isaiah both receive violin instruction. Nathaniel takes piano on Wednesdays, so today we put in a good practice on what he learned earlier in the week.

We're usually glad when Friday morning is through, looking forward to a little break in the scheduled and planned learning and enjoying more informal stuff over the weekend.

This weekend will be very social. We celebrated with my nephew tonight for his 9th birthday and we're preparing for a birthday in our home as well. Nathaniel turns 9 on Sunday, and tomorrow we'll celebrate with pizza and cake. We'll also celebrate David's return from a business trip. He's been gone for a week now, so we're excited to get Dad home again.

I also finished up all the planning for next weeks assignments and goals and tidied up the learning room. Thanks be to God for his help and strength in carrying us through another week.
